When the temperature drops and the nights draw in, it’s time to swap summer refreshes for a proper Winter deep clean. A tidy, cosy home feels even more comforting when it’s cold outside, and giving your space a seasonal reset makes everything feel calm and ready for Christmas.

Whether you’re preparing for guests, tackling post-autumn mess, or just craving that fresh, clean feeling, this simple Winter cleaning checklist will help you get started.

  1. Start with the Surfaces

Dust builds up faster in Winter thanks to closed windows and central heating. Wipe down your shelves, skirting boards, air vents and window sills using a multi-surface cleaner like La Lucca or Disiclin.

Don’t forget to polish any mirrors or glass with a 3 Brujas glass cleaner for a streak-free shine.

  1. Refresh Your Floors

Floors take the brunt of muddy boots and pawprints in Winter. Vacuum regularly and mop with a concentrated Spanish floor cleaner, their fragrances last for days and keep your home feeling truly fresh. Choose something gentle but powerful, like Disiclin or Asevi Pet, to cut through dirt without harsh chemicals.

  1. Deep Clean the Kitchen

Warm comfort food means more time spent cooking (and more mess to deal with). Degrease your hob, oven, and tiles with a strong kitchen spray. Pay extra attention to cupboard handles, fridge shelves, and splashbacks where grease hides.

Take out large kitchen appliances so you can get behind them. Crumbs will accumulate and possibly contribute to allergies or attract unwanted guests. Clean the bins: hot, soapy water and a disinfectant. Finish with a Spanish floor cleaner and it will smell beautiful for days.

And... Descale your kettle, we all know it works overtime in the Winter.

Half-fill the kettle with equal parts water and white vinegar/lemon juice. Boil the kettle, then switch it off and let it sit for about 30 minutes. After that, pour it out and fill with cold water, wipe the inside with a cloth or soft sponge to remove any leftover residue.

I'd suggest boiling it again with fresh water once or twice to remove any lingering scent.

  1. Brighten Up the Bathroom

Steam, condensation, and heating make bathrooms feel extra damp in Winter. Disinfect your sink, bath, and tiles at least weekly to prevent mould or limescale. After your shower, wipe down the remaining water to help with the limescale too.

Remember to clean your sink and shower drains too. Use a multi-surface cleaner, bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar and an old tooth brush.

Get as much soap scum and hair out as you can with the toothbrush, then pour some bicarbonate and white vinegar into each drain. Leave for 20 minutes, and flush it out with boiling water.

Tip: If your bathroom drain clogs often, do this weekly - it will keep pipes clear and stop odours before they start.

And for an extra burst of freshness, try a few drops of Asevi Liquid Air Freshener in the sink after cleaning.

  1. THE WASHING

  • Bedding

  • Blankets

  • Throws

  • Cushion covers

  • Curtains

  • Winter coats and jackets

  • Duvets

  • Pillows (replace if needed)

  • Pet beds and blankets

  • Reusable shopping bags/tote bags

  • Laundry baskets

The list could go on... but before you do all of that, clean the washing machine! (So it's actually worth your time).

Run an empty cycle on the hottest temperature with some white vinegar inside. Then, run a second cycle with bicarbonate of soda inside. This should also be done on the hottest temperature.

Mix some bicarbonate of soda with water and use an old toothbrush to clean the detergent drawer and rubber seal.

Use a cloth and a multi-surface cleaner to wipe down the door, buttons, and outside casing.

Finally, finish with a rinse cycle to remove any leftover residue.

  1. Make It Last

Once everything's spotless, it's all about maintaining it. Keep your favourite products within easy reach and do small touch-ups during the week. That way, your home stays fresh all season long, without another full weekend of scrubbing.
